The NBA Playoffs and the War before the 2006 NBA Finals

Before the Miami Heat won the NBA trophy, we were presented with a number of great match-ups just waiting to be played out in the NBA Playoffs.

Before another post-season madness took place last year, we saw both Staples Center teams in Los Angeles making it, the Detroit Pistons with the overall home court advantage and Allen Iverson making an abrupt exit.

These should've been the top two match-ups, that should've come to play for that coveted NBA Championship.

In the NBA Eastern Conference, we should've seen the Detroit Pistons face the Chicago Bulls. Luckily for the Pistons, the Bulls won't have no.23 with them as no.7, Ben Gordon, is taking over where Jordan left off.

And if the Detroit Pistons did face the Chicago Bulls, the Pistons would've won. Emphatically.

In the Western side of things, the defending NBA Champions, San Antonio Spurs, should've met a Sacramento Kings team on the rise. Since landing Ron Artest from a trade with the Pacers, the Kings evolved from the run-and-gun offense popularized by ex-King Jason Williams, to a defensive minded team.

If this Kings team meet the San Antonio Spurs, and if Ron Artest can keep up with Manu Ginobili then we could've seen these Kings pull away with the biggest upset of the year.

As for Allen Iverson, his team just lost the last and final playoff spot in the East to those pesky Bulls. Landing Chris Webber worked out quite well last season but it was just not enough.
